My friend Faruq and I have been inquiring about civil rights and what it has to do with the Maori Land March (hikoi). I hope you enjoy and understand although it is very brief. Also give us your thoughts in the comments.      Civil Rights What are civil rights? Civil rights are a class of rights that gives equal treatment to all citizens irrespective of their race, religion, birth, caste. When a group’s or an individual’s civil rights are challenged it leads to civil rights movements.   What are the big things that had something to do with civil rights?   Our Ideas and Wonderings This shows Dexter, Cruz, Beau, and Lucca's Ideas and wonderings about the new NZRA book 'Dawn Raid' from Mrs's Howards class in Rongokako.

Here are some statements from Rongokako students about their thoughts on the front cover; "I like the contrast between the colours on the book, and I like the references throughout the cover towards the story inside the book. I wonder why in the thought bubbles there are some uncommon items and I wonder how they will be used/referred to in the text." - Matthew "I think the milk signifies their job because there weren't many jobs for foreigners at that time and the job of delivering the milk bottles is low paying. I wonder if the story will be told from multiple perspectives or just from Sophia's point of view. I also wonder if it will talk about their struggles and other peoples struggles from that time." - Oliver "The colour that the title is written in reminds me of the color of dawn.
